Mel Kolstad Art
This collage brings to mind early fall, which is still fairly green but colors are peeking through. There are gentle reminders that fall is on its way, and we’re soon to be treated to a spectacular color display (at least here in the Northern Hemisphere!).
This piece was created using hand-dyed papers and fabrics, scrim, silk strippings, a rust-dyed crochet remnant, gel print, and machine embroidery. It measures 8”H x 10”W and comes with a wood-grain finished frame, matted to 5”H x 7”W.
This piece reminds me of wooded areas late in the fall. I created it using a Filipino paper, hand-dyed papers and fabrics, silk strippings, scrim, handmade (by me) paper, gel prints, open-weave fabric, commercial papers, locust leaves, and machine embroidery.
This collage measures 8×10” and is oriented horizontally. It comes with a black frame (matted 5×7”) that can either be hung or placed on a flat surface.
I pictured this collage as the view from a wooded area - maybe you’ve just finished a hike, and you’ve found a spot away from the woods, when you see this beautiful sunset, with low bushes in the distance.
This piece was created using hand-dyed papers and fabrics. The textural bits in the piece is hand-dyed silk stripping. It was finished with machine embroidery. It measures 6”W X 8”H and comes with a chunky black frame that can be hung or placed on a shelf or mantel.
